Today was a busy an emotionally trying day for me! So I knew before class started, I needed to put my game face on! To my surprise, my student took the reigns and did his word strips, book reading, word & picture flip book AND word lists, with minimal guidance and few word corrections. He made my tough day easier, hence the other side, the teacher "not being all there". At the end of a difficult day, I got to see the rainbow after the rain!
Ah, good ol' Dolly Parton. Great quote Mar. Indeed, it's hard to see the bright side if there's always a bright side! A good balance of both seems to be most beneficial. I was overjoyed to hear that your student picked up his spirits with a successful session. Hooray!
ReplyDeleteTeaching and learning go hand-in-hand, so while you're not teaching, you're learning. And who says that students can't be teachers, too? I find that they are really good in teaching and helping us to learn humility, patience and tolerance. Don't you agree?

ReplyDeleteBut wow! Not only is it great that he was able to give you a "break," but more importantly he was able and willing to do so. That's your influence, Mar! Wahoo!
There will be a better day. However, you stuck to your commitment to this tutoring session and did what you can to help your student. That's what makes you a good teacher. The fact that he knew what to do is indication that you taught him well.
