Still Assessing

Today's session brought good news from Erik, since he passed the Praxis Test II and his wife successfully defended her master's thesis. Congratulations to both them; a job well done, Erik! Hearing Erik's great news gives me hope that if I study hard enough, I just might be able to pull it off, myself. On a different note, I have been assessing my student at my jobsite over several days now, and I'm still not quite finished. Thankfully, I'm able to do this since he is from the same school. I thought that with all the assessments that I've performed on him, he would get tired of being tested, but somehow it's just the opposite. He seems to really enjoy being tested; I don't know if it's because of all the "treats and little prizes" afterwards, but I'm not complaining. However, I can't wait for the day when I can say that, finally, my addendum is complete. I'm sure that everyone agrees with me on this.

  1. Geri,
I think for the most part we're with you on the assessing. I'm thinking of meeting up with Hoben as well, during spring break to do more assessment. I looked through our work and it was mostly "orals" so the written part need to be done!! I've got work to do!! I Hope we get all the work done on time!

  2. You're right about Erik's news. It gives us optimism that we can do well in the Praxis II. Love hearing happy comments about your student. He has grown to love reading.

  3. Great quote, Geri! You're truly showing your students a better way to appreciate education and literacy. I think his perseverance and unfailing positive attitude is something you should note in your addendum. It might not be something quantifiable, but it is still a sign of improvement. Go beyond the numbers to really show him off as a Reader.

  4. Yup, we're all looking forward to completing our addenda, and relaxing a bit after that too. Geri, you've done a great service for your student, and the only evidence you need is in the energy and love he has for reading now. Way to go!
